Craftly Communications Consent
Effective Date: April 1, 2026
1. Introduction
This Communications Consent ("Consent") describes the types of communications you will receive when using the Craftly platform located at getcraftly.io and any associated mobile applications (the "Platform"), how our messaging relay system works, how messages are stored and retained, and your choices regarding communications.
This Consent is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meanings set forth in the Terms of Service.
By creating an account on the Platform, you consent to receiving the communications described in this document. If you do not consent, you may not use the Platform.
2. Types of Communications
2.1 Authentication Communications
When you log in to the Platform, you will receive a one-time passcode ("OTP") via email to the address associated with your account. These communications are required for account access and cannot be disabled.
If you enroll a biometric passkey (such as Face ID or Touch ID), you may bypass OTP authentication on return visits to the same device. However, OTP authentication remains available as a fallback and may be required in certain circumstances (new device, biometric failure, security event).
2.2 Transactional Communications
You will receive email communications related to your activity on the Platform, including but not limited to:
(a) Connection request notifications (sent to the Provider when a Consumer submits a request);
(b) Connection acceptance notifications (sent to the Consumer when a Provider accepts a request);
(c) Review confirmation requests (sent to the Provider when a Consumer submits a review);
(d) Review publication notifications (sent to the Consumer when a review is published);
(e) Billing receipts and subscription-related communications (sent via Stripe); and
(f) Account security notifications (such as login from a new device or changes to account settings).
Transactional communications are necessary for the operation of the Platform and cannot be disabled while your account is active.
2.3 Messaging Relay Communications
When you participate in a conversation with another user through the Platform, messages may be delivered to you via your selected delivery preference: in-app, SMS, or email. The messaging relay system is described in detail in Section 3 below.
2.4 Platform Update Communications
Craftly may send you communications regarding policy changes, new features, service updates, and other Platform announcements via email. These communications are infrequent and relate to the operation of the Platform.
You may opt out of non-essential Platform update communications by adjusting your notification settings or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any such email. Opting out of Platform updates does not affect authentication, transactional, or messaging relay communications.
2.5 Trust and Safety Communications
Craftly may send you communications related to trust and safety matters, including notifications about enforcement actions taken on your account, requests for information related to an investigation, and responses to reports you have filed. These communications are necessary for Platform integrity and cannot be disabled.
3. Messaging Relay System
3.1 How Messaging Works
When a Provider accepts a Consumer's connection request, a conversation thread is created between them in the Platform. All subsequent communication between the two parties within that connection flows through this single conversation thread, regardless of the delivery channel used by either party.
Each participant selects a delivery preference that determines how they receive messages:
(a) In-app — Messages appear in the Platform's conversation view. Push notifications are sent when the app is backgrounded (if notifications are enabled on the device).
(b) SMS — Messages are forwarded to the participant's phone number via a masked relay number provided by our third-party partner, Twilio. Replies sent to the relay number are routed back into the Craftly conversation thread and forwarded to the other party via their selected delivery preference.
(c) Email — Messages are forwarded to the participant's email address from a unique relay email address provided by our third-party partner, Resend. Replies sent to the relay address are routed back into the Craftly conversation thread and forwarded to the other party via their selected delivery preference.
3.2 One Thread, Many Channels
Each connection has one conversation thread. The delivery channel may differ for each participant and may change over time, but the underlying thread remains the same. Switching your delivery preference from SMS to in-app to email does not create a new conversation — it changes only how you receive future messages in the existing thread.
3.3 Privacy and Masked Contact Information
The messaging relay system is designed to protect each participant's personal contact information:
(a) SMS relay — Messages are delivered from a pooled Twilio relay number, not from the other party's personal phone number. The relay number may change over time and is shared across conversations. Do not save relay numbers as contacts.
(b) Email relay — Messages are delivered from a unique Craftly relay address (e.g., connect-xxxx@getcraftly.io), not from the other party's personal email address.
Neither party's real phone number or email address is disclosed to the other party through the relay system.
3.4 Voluntary Direct Contact Sharing
At any point during a conversation, either party may voluntarily share their real phone number, email address, or other contact information directly within the message thread. This sharing is entirely voluntary — Craftly does not require, encourage, or compel either party to share personal contact information.
If you choose to share your personal contact information within a conversation, you acknowledge that:
(a) Craftly is not responsible for how the other party uses your contact information once shared;
(b) The Craftly conversation thread remains available and continues to function after direct contact information is shared;
(c) Sharing your contact information does not terminate the Craftly conversation or remove previously stored messages; and
(d) Your contact information, once shared in a message, becomes part of the stored conversation history as described in Section 4.
3.5 Delivery Preferences
You may change your delivery preference at any time through the Platform's settings. Changes take effect for future messages only and do not affect the delivery of messages already sent.
Craftly does not guarantee the delivery of messages via any specific channel. SMS and email delivery depend on third-party services (Twilio and Resend, respectively) and on the recipient's phone carrier, email provider, and device settings. Craftly is not liable for messages that are delayed, lost, filtered, or undelivered due to factors outside the Platform's control, including but not limited to carrier spam filters, email spam folders, network outages, device settings, or third-party service disruptions.
4. Message Storage and Retention
4.1 All Messages Are Stored
All messages sent and received through the Platform's messaging system are stored in Craftly's database, regardless of the delivery channel used. This applies equally to messages delivered in-app, via SMS relay, and via email relay. If you send or receive a message through the Craftly conversation thread — whether from the Craftly app, as a text message to a relay number, or as an email reply to a relay address — the content of that message is stored by Craftly.
Message storage is necessary for:
(a) Maintaining a complete and accurate conversation history accessible to both parties;
(b) Trust, safety, and community standards enforcement;
(c) Investigation and resolution of disputes, reports, and "Who You See Is Who You Get" violations;
(d) Compliance with legal obligations; and
(e) Platform integrity and fraud prevention.
4.2 Message Metadata
In addition to message content, Craftly stores message metadata, including:
(a) Sender and recipient identifiers;
(b) Timestamps (sent and delivered);
(c) Delivery channel used (in-app, SMS, email);
(d) Delivery status; and
(e) Connection and thread identifiers.
4.3 Craftly's Right to Review Messages
You acknowledge and agree that Craftly may access and review the content of messages stored in the Platform in connection with:
(a) Trust and safety investigations, including reports from users, automated detection of prohibited conduct, and "Who You See Is Who You Get" violation investigations;
(b) Enforcement of the Terms of Service, Community Standards, and other Craftly policies;
(c) Responding to legal process, subpoenas, court orders, or law enforcement requests;
(d) Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims; and
(e) Any other purpose described in our Privacy Policy.
Craftly does not routinely monitor the content of private messages. Message review is conducted on a case-by-case basis when triggered by a report, investigation, or legal obligation.
4.4 Retention After Account Deletion
When you delete your account:
(a) Messages you sent or received will be anonymized — your identity will be disassociated from the messages — but the message content will be retained in anonymized form for trust, safety, and dispute resolution purposes;
(b) Your delivery preferences and contact information used for relay purposes will be deleted; and
(c) Message metadata associated with your account will be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
Anonymized message content may be retained indefinitely as part of Craftly's anonymized data set, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4.5 Retention After Connection Removal
If a connection between two users is removed (by either party), the conversation thread and all stored messages associated with that connection will be retained by Craftly for trust, safety, and legal purposes. Removing a connection does not delete message history.
5. SMS-Specific Disclosures
If you select SMS as your delivery preference or provide a phone number to the Platform, the following applies:
5.1 Consent to Receive SMS
By selecting SMS as your delivery preference, you consent to receive text messages from Craftly (delivered via Twilio relay numbers) related to your conversations on the Platform.
5.2 Message Frequency
The frequency of SMS messages depends on the volume of your conversations on the Platform. There is no fixed message limit. You may receive multiple messages per day during active conversations.
5.3 Standard Rates Apply
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply to SMS messages sent to and from Twilio relay numbers. Craftly is not responsible for any charges imposed by your wireless carrier.
5.4 Relay Numbers
SMS messages are delivered from pooled Twilio relay numbers. These numbers are shared across the Platform and may change without notice. Do not save relay numbers as contacts. Do not call relay numbers — they are configured for SMS only.
5.5 Opting Out of SMS Delivery
You may stop receiving SMS messages at any time by changing your delivery preference in the Platform's settings to in-app or email. If you reply "STOP" to a relay number, SMS delivery will be disabled and your delivery preference will be switched to in-app. You will continue to receive messages through your updated delivery preference.
Opting out of SMS delivery does not delete messages already sent via SMS, nor does it delete the conversation thread or stored message history.
6. Email-Specific Disclosures
If you select email as your delivery preference, the following applies:
6.1 Consent to Receive Email
By selecting email as your delivery preference, you consent to receive emails from Craftly (delivered via Resend relay addresses) related to your conversations on the Platform.
6.2 Relay Addresses
Email messages are delivered from unique Craftly relay addresses (e.g., connect-xxxx@getcraftly.io). Each conversation may have its own relay address. Do not add relay addresses to your contacts.
6.3 Reply Handling
When you reply to an email from a Craftly relay address, your reply is routed back into the Craftly conversation thread and forwarded to the other party via their selected delivery preference. Your personal email address is not disclosed to the other party through the relay system.
6.4 Spam Filters
Craftly is not responsible for messages that are routed to your spam, junk, or promotional email folders by your email provider. You are responsible for checking these folders and configuring your email settings to receive messages from @getcraftly.io addresses.
6.5 Opting Out of Email Delivery
You may stop receiving conversation messages via email at any time by changing your delivery preference in the Platform's settings to in-app or SMS. This does not affect transactional or authentication emails, which are sent separately and cannot be disabled.
7. Push Notifications
If you use the Craftly mobile application, you may receive push notifications for new messages, connection requests, and other Platform activity. Push notifications are controlled by your device settings and can be enabled or disabled through your device's notification settings. Craftly is not responsible for push notifications that are not delivered due to device settings, operating system restrictions, or network conditions.
8. Your Choices
| Communication Type | Can You Opt Out? | How | |---|---|---| | Authentication (OTP emails) | No — required for account access | N/A | | Transactional notifications | No — required for Platform operation | N/A | | Trust and safety communications | No — required for Platform integrity | N/A | | Conversation messages (in-app) | Change delivery preference | Platform settings | | Conversation messages (SMS) | Change delivery preference or reply STOP | Platform settings or reply STOP | | Conversation messages (email) | Change delivery preference | Platform settings | | Platform updates | Yes | Notification settings or unsubscribe link | | Push notifications | Yes | Device settings |
Note: You cannot opt out of receiving conversation messages entirely while maintaining an active connection. If you no longer wish to receive messages from a specific user, you may remove the connection. Removing a connection does not delete stored message history.
9. Changes to This Consent
Craftly reserves the right to modify this Communications Consent at any time, in its sole discretion. Changes will be posted on the Platform with a revised "Effective Date." Material changes will be communicated in accordance with the modification procedures set forth in our Terms of Service. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Consent.
